    • Including but not limited to:

      • Squats (air, back, front, overhead)

      • Hip Hinges (deadlift, KB swings, sumo deadlift high-pull, etc.)

      • Presses (strict press, push press, push jerk, split jerk, bench press, push ups, dips)

      • Olympic Lifts (clean, jerk, snatch)

      • Gymnastics (pull ups, kipping, toes to bar, bar muscle ups, ring muscle ups, handstands, etc.)

  • Utilizing the best available clinical technology, we collect hard data to assist with clinical decision making. No more “best guess” during your care!

    • Hawkin-Dynamics Force Plates

      • Neuromuscular Readiness Assessments

      • Jumping Metrics

      • Squat Symmetry

      • Isometric Strength Testing

    • VALD Dynamo

      • Isolated Muscle Strength Testing

  • Range of motion and mobility limitations are addressed as they may be related to pain and problem areas.

Using our expert understanding of complex functional movement patterns, we break down movements joint-by-joint to assess the mobility requirements needed to complete the movement as a whole and help you reach your goals.

    We regularly address:

    • Overhead Shoulder Mobility (for strict press, overhead squat, snatch, hanging from the rig for gymnastics)

    • Front Rack Mobility (for presses, front squat, cleans, etc.)

    • Shoulder Extension Mobility (for bench press, push ups, dips, ring muscle up transitions, etc.)

    • Squat Mobility (assessing the hip, knee, and ankle as well as optimal individualized squat stance)

    • Deadlift Mobility (decrease the load on you low back by ensuring appropriate hamstring flexibility)

  • Isolated strength deficits or imbalances can result in pain, movement faults, or performance issues.

Using the data gathered with technological measurements, we formulate a specific plan to address strength deficits to decrease pain and improve performance.

Whether your goal is to get out of pain or hit a 1RM, we utilize proven and evidence-based strength and conditioning principles to get the job done!

    • Low-Load Hypertrophy with Blood Flow Restriction Training

    • Progressive Overload Principles

    • Periodized Training Cycles: Hypertrophy/Strength/Peak

  • Spending an hour with us once per week to once per month won’t get the job done. The majority of the process lies in your hands and what you do outside the physical therapy clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions About Performance Physical Therapy

  • Performance PT at Infinite Capacity goes above and beyond the typical outpatient physical therapy experience.

Tailored to meet the demands of athletes and active adults, it’s not just about treating the pain. It’s about finding the root cause, and making sure that issue doesn’t affect your performance down the road.

Through a combination of manual therapy techniques to help manage pain, and therapeutic exercises for involved tissues with loads that will actually create positive adaptations, we help you meet your performance goals!

  • Performance PT is for you, if:

    • You are a motivated athlete or active adult who wants to get back to living, training, and performing the way you used to

    • You are willing to put in the work in and out of the clinic, and don’t need hand holding

    • You want a therapist who actually understands the demands of your sport and want to be appropriately prepared for return to participation

  • Short answer: No

Due to direct access laws in the state of Maine, you are able to see a physical therapist directly without a referral from your physician

  • The initial evaluation begins with a detailed conversation aimed at truly understanding your problem, how it’s been affecting you, and your goals.

Then we take a look at how you move, measure range of motion and strength, and gather as much objective data as we need to bring the root cause into focus.

Next comes some trial treatment, with the goal of making measurable improvement right then on day #1 before you walk out the door.

We explain what seems to be the issue, our suggested plan, and collaborate with you on the best path moving forward.

You leave with a clear understanding of what it will take to reach your goals, how we’re going to help you get there, and exactly what you need to do to start the process.

This all happens during the 60-minutes we have scheduled together.

  • Every situation is different.

There are many factors that may influence the duration of a plan of care:

    • How long have you been dealing with the issue?

    • How irritated are the tissues involved?

    • How drastic are the mobility and/or strength limitations contributing to the issue?

    • Are there multiple body regions involved?

Based on what we find during the initial evaluation, we provide you with our expert opinion on how long and how many visits it will take to reach your goals.

Due to the wide range of patients’ needs, we offer a variety of plan of care package options to match each individual situation. Plan of care packages are available in 4, 8, 12, or 16 visits, and your therapist will discuss which plan is right for you during the initial evaluation.

  • If we are able to help you get back to confidently living and training pain-free, and insurance didn’t cover a dime of it, would it be worth the investment?

You only get one body during your lifetime, doesn’t it deserve the treatment you believe is best? Not what someone behind the desk at an insurance company determines is appropriate?

We’ve been down that road before, being told by insurance companies what treatments we can and can’t do, how many visits a patient can receive, and what the insurance company is willing to pay for those services.

That’s why we decided to be an out-of-network, fee for service, cash-based clinic.

This means that we do not bill insurance directly, but we can provide you with a superbill which you can submit for potential reimbursement of out-of-network services. We’ve seen everything from patients getting reimbursed 80% to all costs going towards an out-of-network deductible.

Being cash-based allows us to keep all of our sessions 1-on-1 with highly skilled doctors of physical therapy helping you by providing the most appropriate and most effective treatments. Not drowning in multiple patients at once or finding ways to bill extra units while trying to meet productivity standards.

We accept cash, all major credit cards, Health Saving Accounts (HSA), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) at the time of service.

  • An injury is your body’s way of telling you something is off.

If the root cause of that injury isn’t addressed, the same issue is likely to recur again, and again, and again.

Unfortunately, things like rest, ice, pain medication, and even tools that we like to use for decreasing pain like massage and joint manipulation… Don’t fix the underlying problem.

True change comes from making long lasting adaptations to the involved tissues through mobility, strength, and movement training.

Our goal is to always make these long lasting changes so you are more resilient and can confidently return to activity.
